Quick answer

Can you check my computer is secure?

Yes. We check your computer for viruses, scam software and weak spots, remove what shouldn’t be there, and set up the protection that matters most at home: updates, two-step sign-in, a password manager and backups. If you’ve been scammed, we help you lock things down first. Your quote comes first.

What we do

Security that fits a home or a small office.

Explained plainly, and set up so it keeps working.

  • Viruses and scam software

Viruses, unwanted programs and remote-access tools left by scammers, removed.

  • A security check-up

Updates, protection and settings checked on each computer.

  • Two-step sign-in

Turned on for your email, bank and shopping accounts.

  • Passwords

A password manager set up, so every account has its own strong password.

  • Backups

Backups that run on their own, so a failed drive or a scam doesn’t take your files.

    More about it
  • Safe Wi-Fi

Router passwords changed from the defaults, and the router kept up to date.

    More about it
  • After a scam

What to do first, what the scammer may have touched, and how to lock it down.

  • Small offices

    Security for offices and teams.

Symptoms

What it usually turns out to be

What you see, what is usually behind it, and what to do now.

  • A caller asked to connect to your computer

    Usually
A scam: callers pretend to be from Microsoft, your broadband provider or your bank.
    What to do now
Hang up. If you let them in, take the computer off the internet and call your bank.
  • A pop-up says your computer is locked

    Usually
A scam web page, not a real lock or a real virus.
    What to do now
Don’t call the number. Close the browser; if it won’t close, switch the computer off.
  • Friends got odd emails from you

    Usually
    Someone has your email password.
    What to do now
Change your email password from another device, and turn on two-step sign-in.
  • A new toolbar, or a new home page

    Usually
Unwanted programs installed alongside something else.
    What to do now
Don’t enter passwords on unfamiliar pages until it is checked.
  • Your bank warns of a sign-in you don’t recognise

    Usually
A password that was guessed, reused or stolen.
    What to do now
Call your bank on the number on your card, not a number in a message.
  • Pop-ups asking you to renew antivirus

    Usually
Often a trial or a fake renewal, not a real expiry.
    What to do now
Don’t pay from a pop-up; ask us whether you need it at all.
