Cookies, briefly

We count visits to improve this website, as totals that don’t say who you are. Google’s tools load only if you say yes. You can stop either, at any time, right here.

Your choices

Saved in this browser only. You can come back and change them whenever you like, or use “Cookie choices” at the foot of any page.

Totals only, with no cookies and nothing that says who you are: which pages are read, what is pressed and how fast pages load. We keep the counts for 90 days.

Google Analytics and Google Ads measure our adverts and set cookies; Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, hiding what you type. Off unless you turn it on.

What we count without asking

A small script on our pages counts how the website is used, so we can see what works and fix what doesn’t. It counts:

  • which pages are seen, for how long they are really read, and how far down;
  • what is pressed: call (and which of our numbers), WhatsApp, book, email, and the steps of our booking form;
  • which fields in our forms needed a second try (the field’s name only, never what you typed), and the postcode district you check, such as WD4, never the full postcode;
  • how fast pages load, and whether something went wrong on them;
  • how the visit started: from a search engine, an advert, an AI assistant, another website or directly, and the first page seen.

It sets no cookies and carries nothing that says who you are: no name, no ID, no internet address, nothing you type. To count the pages of one visit, it keeps a note in this browser tab (how the visit started, its first page and how many pages so far), which your browser deletes when you close the tab. The law allows counting like this without asking, for statistics that improve a website, as long as we tell you and you can stop it easily (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as changed by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025).

The counts go to our own website, on our website host, which stores them for us. We keep each count for 90 days, then delete it; totals by day and by month, which say nothing about anyone, are kept longer. A summary of the totals goes to our job records system, where we read it with the enquiries and jobs, and a monthly report is written from those totals, with the help of an AI tool, which only ever sees totals.

How to stop it

Turn off “Count my visits” above, under “Choices” in the cookie message, or under “Cookie choices” at the foot of any page. We then count nothing from this browser. “No thanks” in the cookie message turns down Google and Microsoft only; counting as described here goes on unless you turn it off.

Only if you say yes

If you press “That’s fine”, or turn on “Adverts and recordings” above, these load as well. Until then they don’t load at all, and “No thanks” is just as easy to press.

  • Google Analytics measures how people use the website. Cookies: _ga and _ga_…, for up to 2 years.
  • Google Ads tells us which of our adverts led someone to tap to call, WhatsApp or email us. Cookies: _gcl_au and, if you came from an advert, _gcl_aw, for 90 days. We don’t use your visit for personalised adverts.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and mouse movement) so we can see where people get stuck. It hides what you type, and nothing goes to Microsoft’s advertising. Cookies: _clck for 1 year and _clsk for 1 day.

With your yes we also give the visit a random number, keep Google’s reference for the advert you came from and note the pages you see; if you then send us an enquiry, these go with it, so we can learn which pages and adverts lead to enquiries and work. Google and Microsoft use what they collect under their own privacy notices. You can change your mind at any time: turn it off above and we turn their measurement off and delete their cookies.

Remembering your choice

Your choices are kept in this browser (its local storage, under htt-consent) with the date you made them, so we don’t ask again. They carry no ID and stay until you clear your browser’s data.

Our forms

When you start filling in one of our forms (a booking, a callback or a business visit), your browser loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a computer program, is sending it. Cloudflare may store what that check needs in your browser. It is strictly necessary to keep the forms safe from spam, so it doesn’t ask for your consent, and Cloudflare says it doesn’t use it to identify, profile or target anyone. Pages without a form never load it.

The street maps

Some pages show a street map. When you scroll to it, your browser loads the map pictures from OpenFreeMap, a free map service that sets no cookies. Like any website, it sees your internet address while it sends them.

Messages and calls

When you tap WhatsApp or a phone number, your phone opens WhatsApp or your dialler. WhatsApp’s own terms apply to messages you send us there.
